In March, 1964 as a much younger man I spent a week in and around St. Johann learning to ski. My instructor was "Willi" and I only remember that he built houses in the summer. Willi was a slave driver, and the focus was as much on physical conditioning as learning to ski, but it was marvelous and always a fond memory.
I wondered these 45 years later if I could find the pension by Google Earth. With the help of an old photo I took and by matching the view of the mountains in the background, I have located your beautiful location. I was amazed to find a photo of the structure from that period to match almost exactly.
Now I am musing over a trip to Bruneck for the Nena Concert in July. It would be amazing to spend a few days there.

To all English speakers. This is a fantastic holiday destination. Great rooms, great food and wonderfull hospitality it is a pleasure staying here every year. Book early to avoid disappointment as a good thing is always difficult to find. |
