The history of the Erlebnisgut Oberhabach
Our farmstead in Kirchdorf in Tirol was first mentioned in the "Chiemseer Urbare" rent rolls in 1400 AD as the "Heubach" farm. The name "Seybold" is first mentioned in connection with the farmstead in 1605. The Oberhabachhof has been owned and managed by the Seiwald family since 1778.
Before Josef and Maria Seiwald turned the farm into a guesthouse in 1969, the Oberhabach farmstead in Kirchdorf was already in use as a youth hostel.
After the death of Josef Seiwald in 1979, his wife Maria and children Josef, Klaus and Maria continued to run the farmstead and the guesthouse until son Josef took over the farm in 1994. Since 1997, Josef and Marlen Seiwald have been running the farm and the hotel "Oberhabach".
A large-scale renovation project was completed in 2002, which saw most of the guestrooms being refurbished, the barn and stables being rebuilt approx. 150 metres away from the hotel, and parts of the former stables being converted into guestrooms and offices. Since then, the Erlebnisgut Oberhabach with its 29 beds has been run as the hotel we see today.
Eight years later, in 2010, a wellness area was set up on the first floor of the former haybarn, with beautiful views of the Wilder Kaiser and the Leukental Valley. From the very start, guests loved the welcoming and rustic atmosphere of the sauna area and the quiet room.
In 2012, the Erlebnisgut Oberhabach became the first 3-Star-Superior Hotel in the Kitzbühel Alps, in recognition of its status as the high-quality, family-run enterprise it is today.
In 2020 the Pension Oberhabach celebrates its 50th anniversary and at the same time shines in new splendour. The wood on the facade and the balconies was sandblasted and the facade was renovated. In addition, the good old Habachstube presents itself in a new dress and the hotel has been extended by an annex with an apartment facing east to the limestone. The private house of Sepp & Marlen was also hammered and drilled - this is where the private apartment of Seppi junior was built, who will take over the business in the next few years.
The unique interplay of a 3-Star Superior hotel and working farm makes the Erlebnisgut Oberhabach truly unique. This is the perfect setting for enjoying a well-deserved holiday that stands out from the rest!
