The Story of the *S Hotel Erlebnisgut Oberhabach

Our farm in Kirchdorf in Tyrol was already mentioned in the Chiemsee land registers as “Heubach” as early as 1400. The name Seybold appears on the farm in 1605, and since 1778 the Seiwald family has been running the Oberhabachhof.
Before the conversion into a guesthouse in 1969 by Josef and Maria Seiwald, the Oberhabachhof in Kirchdorf had already been used as a youth hostel.

In 1979, Josef Seiwald passed away, and the farm and guesthouse were continued by his wife Maria and their children Josef, Klaus, and Maria. In 1994, Josef took over the agricultural operations. From 1997 onwards, Josef and Marlen Seiwald ran the farm and the “Feriengut Oberhabach”.

In 2002, a major renovation was carried out. Most of the guest rooms were renovated, a new barn building was constructed approximately 150 meters from the guesthouse, and part of the former barn was converted into guest and work areas. Since then, Feriengut Oberhabach has presented itself in its current form as a hotel with 39 beds.

Eight years later – in 2010 – a wellness area was created on the first floor of the former barn, offering a breathtaking view of the Wilder Kaiser mountains and the Leukental valley. From the very beginning, guests have been delighted by the cosy atmosphere of the sauna and relaxation area.

In 2012, Feriengut Oberhabach was awarded the first 3-star Superior hotel in the Kitzbühel Alps and has since presented itself to guests as a quality-focused family-run establishment.

In 2020, Feriengut Oberhabach celebrated its 50th anniversary and simultaneously shone in a new light. The wooden façade and balconies were sandblasted, and the exterior was renovated. The traditional Habachstube was also refreshed with a new interior, and the hotel was expanded with an extension featuring an east-facing apartment overlooking the Kalkstein. Work also continued at Sepp & Marlen’s private home, where the private apartment of Sepp Jr. and Theresa was created.

In 2021, we announced the completion of our new pergola and the expansion of the terrace.

In 2022, the Kaiserstube received a complete makeover, and our younger guests can now enjoy the brand-new children’s playroom. Another major milestone that year was the completion of our new stable, offering a beautiful home for 10 horses. We also expanded our hotel’s services to include the unique experience of a riding holiday.

2023 – A New Chapter Begins
In 2023, Josef Seiwald Jr. took over the family business, marking the start of a new era. In the same year, six hotel rooms were renovated to offer our guests an even more comfortable stay. The ***S Feriengut Oberhabach was renamed to ***S Hotel Erlebnisgut Oberhabach.

2024 – Highest Award for Farm Holidays
